BookHampton, the East End's premier independent bookstore, is highly regarded for its curated inventory, vibrant author events, and excellent customer service. 


BOOKSELLERS (part-time and full-time)

Applicants will share enthusiasm for bookselling! You must read broadly and LOVE books! You will provide exceptional customer service by recommending, discussing, and selling books and unique gift merchandise. Additional tasks include answering phones; assisting customers via phone or in person, assist vendors, take detailed messages as needed; and help maintain the general appearance and organization of the store.

Skills Requirements:

-Strong interpersonal and communication skills
-Retail experience a must, bookselling experience a plus!
-Broad knowledge of literature, arts, and culture
-Strong computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office and Point of Sale/cash register systems.
-Digitally savvy a plus (social media and web)
-Must have the ability to lift, reach (shelve books), and comfortably stand for long time periods.

SOCIAL MEDIA SPECIALIST (part-time, 8-10 hours weekly)

The core responsibility of the Social Media Specialist is to achieve superior customer engagement, increase website traffic, and augment revenue by strategically exploiting all aspects of social media marketing. This individual is responsible for day-to-day activities across several social media channels.

The Social Media Specialist must have a solid understanding of how each social media channel works and how to optimize content so that it is engaging on those channels. This individual is responsible for joining relevant conversations on behalf of the brand.

The Social Media Specialist is a highly motivated, creative individual with experience and a passion for connecting with current and future customers. That passion comes through as they engage with customers daily, with the goal of converting followers into customers and converting customers into brand loyalists.

Core Responsibilities:
-Generate, edit, publish, and share content (original text, images, video) that builds meaningful connections and encourages followers to act i.e., register for an event, visit the website, make a purchase, and/or engage with the content.
-Moderate all user-generated content in an engaging, empathetic, and energetic manner.
-Create appropriate editorial calendars as needed.
-Continuously improve content by capturing and analyzing the appropriate social data/metrics, insights, and best practices, and then acting on the information.

Skills Requirements:
-Proven working experience in social media marketing
-Demonstrable social analytics tools knowledge
-Possesses knowledge and experience in the tenets of traditional marketing and online marketing.
-Excellent consulting, writing, editing (photo/video/text), presentation, and communication skills
-Is a team player with the confidence to take the lead and guide other employees when necessary. (i.e., content development)
-Demonstrates empathy, patience, advocacy, and conflict resolution with customers and colleagues alike.
-Exhibits the ability to jump from the creative side of marketing to the analytical side, able to demonstrate why their ideas are analytically sound.
-Adequate knowledge of web design, web development, and SEO
-Positive attitude, detail and customer-oriented, with good multitasking and organizational ability
-Exceeds at building and maintaining sales relationships, online and off.
-Must be a self-starter and able to independently move projects forward, prioritize tasks, and meet multiple deadlines. Comfortable with a fast-paced environment.
