Dear Reader Thanksgiving

Dear Reader,

Happy Thanksgiving!
When my son Charlie, now almost 30, was in nursery school, he offered up a recipe for cooking the Thanksgiving turkey. It must have been a class project because his teacher typed up the recipe and pasted it on a paper plate cut-out turkey that he had festooned.  Here is the recipe:

Charlie Brody's Turkey Recipe
1. You buy a turkey.
2. You wash it.
3. Put lemon juice on it.
4. Stuff it.
5. Put oil on the turkey.
6. Put it in the oven on 45 degrees for 30 minutes.

I treasure this recipe for many reasons, as only a mother could. Its simplicity and, yes, its naivete always make me smile. I look back on those days with great fondness. In the face of list-making, grocery shopping, and seasonal obligations, I even manage to have moments of calm.
As we all gather together this Thanksgiving, may we remember the gifts of family and friends, simplicity, kindness, good judgment, and all that is bountiful in our lives.

As the advent calendar (we have more in the store) reminds us, the transition from Thanksgiving to the holiday season occurs quite quickly. To launch the festive season at BookHampton, I am beyond excited and so proud to announce our first holiday catalog, available in print and online. The catalogfeatures an array of adult books, children’s books, and gifts.

Our staff has spent a lot of time choosing which books and gifts to feature—a challenging task given the many worthy, desirable, delightful, fun and unique offerings. Everything in the catalog and much more is in the store right now, so please don't wait to have a look!

Books make great gifts and I always think selecting a book for holiday giving provides as much joy to the giver as it does to the receiver. The catalog is meant to entice you into the store or to dig deeper into our online offerings where you are sure to find the perfect gift.

Very soon, I’ll follow up with ideas for how we can be of further help to you this holiday season. Remember that there are lots of ways we can assist—in the store, by phone, online, or whatever best suits you. We can wrap, we can send, we can happily find the right gift for everyone on your list. And if you’ll be travelling or spending the winter elsewhere, we can send books and gifts to wherever you’ll be. We’ve recently sent boxes of books to Florida, California, and even Australia for several customers!

At this time of year, may I once again express my gratitude to all of you for supporting the store! You have my deepest thanks!

See you in the store!

Carolyn Brody
