Authors to Schools Program

It is said that there is nothing more powerful than a book in the hands of a child! But there is something that can be equally as powerful. It is the voice of an author when they speak of the passion, the hopes, and the dreams that are held in the pages of their books. Sometimes it takes an author, with a passion and purpose, to explain why reading and books are so important for hope and change.

Through our outreach program, Authors to Schools, we bring touring authors and illustrators into schools all over Long Island spanning grades pre-K through high school. We are fortunate to work with many fabulous authors — Marc Brown, R.L. Stine, Kate DiCamillo, Jane O’Connor, Lincoln Peirce, Chris Grabenstein, Patricia MacLachlan…to name just a few!

Participation in the program is easy. Fill out our contact form, and we will begin finding a good match for your School's wants and needs.

In addition to the Authors to Schools program, we would love to hear from you to discuss some of the many ways BookHampton can work directly with your school. Book fairs, teacher programs, summer reading fundraisers, and our ever-popular Educators’ Night are just some of the programs we have available. As your local, independent bookstore, we are flexible and responsive with the goal of meeting each school’s specific needs.
