The past few weeks have certainly been eventful, subject to much commentary which will, of course, continue. Let’s hope that this Thanksgiving will bring a time of reflection for all of us.
As we gather around the table, may we offer thanks for food, family, and community. Now more than ever, community seems necessary and important—something to create, build upon, and cherish. Sharing the spirit of thankfulness and the virtue of gratitude, we at BookHampton wish you a Happy Thanksgiving!
The day after Thanksgiving kicks off the busiest shopping season of our year. Yes, I know summer is crazy busy but the holidays are something else!
The store is ready AND the staff is ready. Our favorite books for holiday gift giving are beautifully stacked on the front tables, briefly described and tagged with red ribbons to get your attention. You can’t miss these books and I promise you there is something for everyone. The kids' section is overflowing with fabulous new books to help you start—or continue—the tradition of giving books to children—ever so important!
And we’ve got other gifts as well: stocking-stuffers, toys, games, puzzles, artisanal chocolate from Recchiuti in San Francisco and crumb cakes from Nene's Treats based in Charleston, South Carolina. The staff is ready to help at any moment—we can walk around the store with you should your list feel overwhelming, we can make a few suggestions and turn you loose to wander (who knows what you’ll discover!), or we’ll greet you at the register and offer to gift wrap (and send) whichever books you’ve chosen.
Here at BookHampton, the week of Thanksgiving is jam-packed with exciting events for book lovers including:
Special Guest Story Time featuring Hilaria and Alec Baldwin
On Friday, November 25th (the day after Thanksgiving), Hilaria and Alec Baldwin will be in the store from 2:00-3:30PM for a special story time. Alec will read from Black Beauty and Hilaria will read in Spanish from Por Favor, Senor Panda. How great is this! Hilaria and Alec are good friends of BookHampton and we are delighted to welcome them back to the store.
Ina Garten Book Signing
Also on Saturday, from 3:00 to 4:00PM, Ina Garten will be in the store to sign copies of her newest book, Cooking for Jeffrey. We are so appreciative to Ina for joining us on Small Business Saturday!
Please be sure to join us for our Open House on Saturday, December 3rd from 12:00 - 4:00PM.
As of this Friday, we have adjusted our store hours to accommodate holiday shopping: Sunday through Thursday, we'll be open 9:30AM - 7:00PM and from 9:30AM - 8:00PM on Fridays and Saturdays.
We’ll be sure to stay in touch with more frequent e-mails and please watch for our daily Instagram postings for up-to-the-minute gift ideas.
Lastly, in recognition of Small Business Saturday, please remember that BookHampton is locally owned and independently run. As always, we thank you for your continued support. It means a lot to us!
Happy Thanksgiving and we look forward to seeing you in the store.
P.S. Tom Friedman’s new book, Thank You for Being Late—An Optimist’s Guide to Thriving in the Age of Accelerations, will be released on Tuesday, November 22nd AND WE HAVE SIGNED COPIES!
In his brilliant way, Tom describes how technology, climate change, and globalization are reshaping our world. This is contemporary history, future telling, and never more timely than now! A must for everyone on your list!
